1 Čo je budúci priebehový čas v angličtine?

Budúci priebehový čas (Future Continuous) je časové určenie používané v angličtine na vyjadrenie činnosti, ktorá bude prebiehať v budúcnosti v určitom časovom období. Používa sa na vyjadrenie budúceho činu, ktorý bude trvať určitú dobu a bude prebiehať v budúcnosti.

Na rozdiel od budúceho jednoduchého času tu je dôraz práve na to, že činnosť bude trvať nejakú dobu, alebo bude práve prebiehať v určitom momente v budúcnosti.

Napríklad:
I will be studying for my exams next week. (Budem sa učiť na skúšky budúci týždeň.)
Next Monday at 5 am, I will be flying to Sweden. (Budúci pondelok o 5 hodine ráno práve letím do Švédska.)

2 Ako tvoríme budúci priebehový čas (Future Continuous)?

Budúci priebehový čas (Future Continuous) sa v angličtine tvorí pomocou modálneho slovesa „will“, slovesa „be“ a plnohodnotného slovesa s príponou „-ing“.
Napríklad:
I will be studying. (Budem študovať.)
They will be waiting. (Budú čakať.)
He will be cooking. (Bude variť.)

2.1 Tvorba kladnej vety

Kladný tvar budúceho priebehového času má nasledujúcu štruktúru:
podmienka + will + be + plnohodnotné sloveso s koncovkou -ing + zvyšok vety

• I will be studying for my exams next week. – Budem sa učiť na skúšky budúci týždeň.
• They will be waiting for the bus at the bus stop. – Budú čakať na autobus na zastávke.
• He will be cooking dinner for us tonight. – Bude variť večeru pre nás dnes večer.

2.2 Tvorba záporné vety

Pri tvorbe záporné vety sa za modálne sloveso will pripojí záporka NOT:
podmienka + will + not + be + plnohodnotné sloveso s koncovkou -ing + zvyšok vety

• I will not be studying for my exams next week. – Nebudem sa učiť na skúšky budúci týždeň.
• They will not be waiting for the bus at the bus stop. – Nebudú čakať na autobus na zastávke.
• He will not be cooking dinner for us tonight. – Nebude variť večeru pre nás dnes večer.

2.3 Tvorba otázky

Pri tvorbe otázky sa zmení poradie modálneho slovesa „will“ a podmienky nasledovne:
will + podmienka + be + sloveso s -ing

• Will they be waiting for the bus at the bus stop? – Budú čakať na autobus na zastávke?

4 Súvisiace gramatické javy

V angličtine existuje niekoľko spôsobov, ako vyjadriť budúci čas. Okrem budúceho priebehového času (Future Continuous) sú to napríklad:

4.1 Budúci jednoduchý čas (Future Simple)

Keď hovoríme o aktivite, ktorá začne a skončí v budúcnosti, neplánovali sme ju alebo ide o momentálne rozhodnutie, použijeme budúci jednoduchý čas. Je tvorený pomocným slovesom „will“ alebo „shall“ a základným tvarom slovesa.

• I will finish the project on time. – Projekt dokončím včas.
• They will visit us next week. – Prídu nás navštíviť budúci týždeň.

4.2 Fráza „be going to“

Pre popis činností, na ktoré sa chystáme a máme ich v pláne, je najvhodnejšie použiť „be going to“. Táto fráza sa skladá zo slovesa „be“ v príslušnom tvare a „going to“, ktoré je rovnaké pre všetky osoby.

• I am going to visit my grandparents next month. – Budúci mesiac mám v pláne navštíviť mojich starých rodičov.
• They are going to move to a new house next year. – Budúci rok majú v pláne presťahovať sa do nového domu.

4.3 Prítomný priebehový čas (Present Continuous)

Budúcnosť možno vyjadriť aj prítomným prúbežným časom, a to existuje-li dôkaz, že sa jedná o naplánovanú akciu, alebo je takmer 100% istota, že k aktivite dôjde.

• I am finishing school this year. – Tento rok končím školu.
• Peter is flying to Switzerland next week. – Peter budúci týždeň odlieta do Švajčiarska. (Naplánoval si to, už má kúpené letenky…)

4.4 Prítomný jednoduchý čas (Present Simple)

Aktivity v budúcnosti, ktoré sú naplánované a často sú uvedené v nejakom rozvrhu, opisujeme prítomným jednoduchým časom.
podmet + plnovýznamové sloveso + zvyšok vety

• The train leaves at 5 o’clock. – Vlak odchádza v 5 hodín.
• The movie starts at 8. – Film začína v 8 hodín.

Rozdiely medzi týmito časmi sa týkajú spôsobu, akým sú budúce akcie alebo udalosti vyjadrené. Napríklad prítomný jednoduchý čas sa používa na vyjadrenie akcií, ktoré sa opakujú pravidelne alebo sú naplánované na konkrétny čas v budúcnosti, zatiaľ čo budúci prúběžný čas sa používa na vyjadrenie akcie, ktorá bude prebiehať v určitom okamihu v budúcnosti.

Pozrime sa na rozdiel medzi nimi na nasledujúcich príkladoch:

• Kate is working tomorrow. – Kate zajtra pracuje.
• Kate is going to work tomorrow. – Kate sa chystá zajtra pracovať. (V oboch prípadoch ide o naplánovanú aktivitu, k nej dôjde na 99 %.)
• Kate will work tomorrow. – Kate bude zajtra pracovať. (Momentálne rozhodnutie, mieru istoty možno poznať len z kontextu).
• When I get home tomorrow, Kate will be working tomorrow. – Až zajtra prídem domov, Kate bude práve pracovať. (Dávame buď dôraz na to, že aktivita bude prebiehať dlhšiu dobu, alebo že bude práve prebiehať, keď nastane nejaký jav – keď sa dostanem zajtra domov).

• I am seeing my boss on Friday at 5.
• I am going to see my boss on Friday at 5. (Predom dohodnuté, naplánované)
• I will see my boss tomorrow on Friday at 5. (Práve som sa rozhodol, nejedná sa o 100% istotu, možno k aktivite nedôjde).
• I will be seeing my boss on Friday at 5. (V piatok o 5:00 práve budem uprostred aktivity – stretnutie so šéfom.)

5 Stavové vs. dynamické slovesá

V kombinácii s budúcim časom priebehovým zvyčajne používame dynamické slovesá, nie stavové. Ako už názov napovedá, tieto slovesá vyjadrujú stav a nie sú určené na vyjadrenie priebežného diania alebo činnosti, ktorá prebieha v budúcnosti.
Nie je teda možné povedať napríklad: I will be having the book in the evening. – Tú knihu budem mať večer.

Výnimkou sú veľmi zdvorilé otázky, v ktorých sa môže objaviť napr. sloveso need alebo want:

• Will they be needing these documents on Friday? – Budú v piatok potrebovať tieto dokumenty?
• Will you be wanting to cancel the hotel reservation if you miss your flight? – Budete si želať zrušiť tú rezerváciu hotela, ak zmeškáte svoj let?

6 Praktická ukážka použitia budúceho priebehového času (Future Continuous)

Tomorrow at 10 AM, I will be running in a race. I can’t wait to stand at the starting line and take off on the course. During the race, I will be wearing my new running shoes that I bought last week. I believe they will help me perform better. On the way to the race, I will be warming up to be ready. When I finish, I will be feeling completely exhausted, but happy. I hope to have a good time and beat my personal record.
Tomorrow at 10 AM, I will be running in a race. – Časové určenie nám hovorí, že v tom čase bude prebiehať nejaká aktivita.
During the race, I will be wearing my new running shoes that I bought last week. – Počas celého závodu ich budem mať na sebe, aktivita prebieha dlhú dobu.
On the way to the race, I will be warming up to be ready. – Zatiaľ čo budem na ceste na závod, budem sa rozcvičovať a zahrievať. – Aktivita opäť bude v priebehu.
When I finish, I will be feeling completely exhausted, but happy. – Mohol by sa použiť aj budúci čas jednoduchý, ale takto dávame dôraz na priebeh.
