Christmas time is not only about giving presents, it’s also special time, which you should spend with your family. Many cities offer possibilities, where you can enjoy an atmosphere of Christmas. Traditionally in a centre of the city you can find Christmas market, where you can buy almost everything for your Christmas decoration and of course, if you are hungry or thirsty, you find there many traditional foods and drinks. We have here some cities that should be proud of their Christmas market.

1. Strasbourg, France

The oldest market you can find in France, in Strasbourg. In winter 1570 was the first time, when everyone from the neighbourhood could visit this special Christmas market and you can do it also now, almost 450 years after the first opening.

2. Aachen, Germany

Another great Christmas market is in Aachen, in Germany. You can enjoy the right Christmas atmosphere in the city centre, near the Cathedral and the Aachen Town Hall. The lights, colours and festive sounds are really amazing, and thanks to them you forget all your problems. You just enjoy the special time with your friends or family.

3. Vienna, Austria

One of the most beautiful Christmas markets you can see every year, take place in Vienna. The city is always beautiful, but at Christmas it’s even more amazing. If you want to have a romantic evening with your love, Vienna Christmas market is the right choice.

4. Dresden, Germany

Dresden is popular among tourists during the whole year, but you maybe don’t know, it has also really amazing Christmas markets. There are altogether eleven markets, so you can see some traditional things, but if you are a modern person, there is also something for you.

5. Cologne, Germany

Last Monday before advent is important for Cologne. In this day start the Christmas markets and millions of visitors want to experience something special. And yes, in Cologne it’s possible.

6. Manchester, England

The most famous Christmas markets in the United Kingdom take place in Manchester. You don’t have many reasons to visit Manchester, but in winter there is something, you should see. The historic centre of the city is really impressive and you can enjoy there the real Christmas atmosphere.

7. Lille, France

Another market takes place again in France. It’s in Lille, and the famous square Place Rihour changes itself into Christmas paradise. There are more than 80 chalets, where you can find ideas for your Christmas gifts or like everywhere, traditional food and drinks.

8. Nuremberg, Germany

Friday before the first Sunday in Advent starts another great Christmas market. You can find it in Nuremberg, in Germany. The smell of bratwurst and gingerbread is typical for this market, but don’t worry, there are also many other ways, how to fight with your hunger.

9. Brussels, Belgium

If you don’t know, when it’s the right time to visit Brussels, try it at Christmas. The city invites you with amazing lights, festive sounds and you can walk through the historic town centre, where you can try ice skating and enjoy a lot of fun.

10. Prague, Czech Republic

You will have to travel to the Central Europe if you want to visit one of the most famous Christmas markets. Prague is a beautiful city the whole year and at Christmas it’s even more amazing. You can listen to live performances, walk through historic alleys and feel the real atmosphere of Christmas.
